Dental Disease Grade I:
Inflammation of the gums is called gingivitis. In Grade 1 Dental Disease, the area of the gums surrounding the teeth is inflamed (red) and the teeth have some plague and calculus above the gum line. When left untreated, periodontal disease results in progressive disease with loss of teeth. Infection in the gums can spread to the kidneys, liver and heart valves and damage these organs.
Dental Disease Grade II:
Inflammation of the gums is called gingivitis – the first symptom of periodontal disease. The gums surrounding the teeth are red and swollen and there is plague and calculus on the teeth that extends below the gum line. When left untreated, periodontal disease results in progressive disease with loss of teeth. Infection in the gums can spread to the kidneys, liver and heart valves and damage these organs. *DENTAL CLEANING/SURGERY IS RECOMMENDED IMMEDIATELY*
Dental Disease Grade III/Periodonitis:
Inflammation of the gums (gingivitis) has progressed to the first stage of periodontitis. Pockets have begun to form around the teeth where the gums used to adhere tightly to the tooth at the gum line. When left untreated, periodontal disease results in progress disease with loss of teeth. Infection in the gums can spread to the kidney’s, liver and heart valves and damage these organs. *DENTAL CLEANING/SURGERY IS RECOMMENDED IMMEDIATELY*
Dental Disease Grade IV/Periodontitis:
Inflammation of the gums has progressed to well-established periodontitis. The gums have begun to recede, there are deep pockets between the teeth and gums, there is bone loss and loosening of teeth. Many of the teeth require extraction. When left untreated, infection in the gums and tooth sockets can spread to the kidneys, liver and heart valves and damage these organs. *DENTAL CLEANING/SURGERY IS RECOMMENDED IMMEDIATELY*
